The care our church community offers is a tangible and meaningful way of living out what we say we believe. We are the hands and feet of God’s grace to each other and to the wider community. Making contributions in our areas of giftedness can bring hope to our neighbour and can energize and give meaning to our own life.
Give a little. Make a big difference!

h2. CareLinks Pantry

We have a food pantry to help individuals from our church or wider community who are in need of short-term assistance. Non-perishable food donations are received in the wooden box in the foyer. Call the office or speak to one of the pastors or CareLinks Connectors if you or someone you know needs temporary assistance.

h3. *CareLinks is interested in hearing from you!*

If you have yet to fill out the survey as to how you can be involved in the formal caring ministry in our church family, then fill out a participation form "here.(CareLinks participation form)":http://www.remb.ca/files/0000/0006/C__River_East_Faith___Fellowship_Commission_CareLinks_form.pdf

_"Dedicated to building relationships and providing a creative learning environment so that our children know they are loved and valued by God and will enter into a deeper relationship with God and grow as they follow in Jesus' footsteps."_

h3. Cradle Roll

River East's Cradle Roll is designed to welcome new babies into our congregation by giving a gift at birth, providing parents with encouragement throughout the first two years and recognizing milestones such as birthdays up to age 2.

h3. Infant Nursery

River East's Infant Nursery is committed to providing a loving, healthy and safe environment for our babies and toddlers, up to and including age 2. We want our youngest children to feel, from the very first experience, that church is a place where they are loved. During the Worship hour and Sunday School, care givers interact with children, demonstrating God's love by participating with them in a variety of activities (singing, playing with toys, reading books), and caring for their physical needs.

h3. Preschool Worship

River East's preschool program is committed to providing a loving, healthy, and safe environment for young children up and including age 4. Care is provided during the last half of the worship service and Sunday School and includes learning that is exciting and fun based on Gospel Light's Little Kids Time Curriculum. Each month a new theme is used to teach children concrete and practical ideas they can learn from Bible Stories. A team of leaders take turns each month to introduce learning centers, including Bible Story Center, Active Game Center, Art Center, or Dramatic Play Center. The children also participate in group games, free play and a singing time.

h3. Children's Worship

River East's Children's Worship provides children (K-4) with their own meaningful worship experience through the use of Integrity Publishers curriculum, Veggie Connections: Connecting to a powerful relationship with God. This curriculum will help students connect to a closer relationship with God. It is based on the verse James 4:8 "Come near to God and God will come near to you." Children will be introduced to and encouraged to adopt a catch phrase that can help them build and process their relationship with God every day of the year. That catch phrase is: THINK-LINK-ACT and each session will focus kids on various activities that help children to walk the walk and talk the talk, hopefully opening doors for the Holy Spirit to enter and build meaningful relationships that will carry kids through every day of their lives.

h3. Activity Groups

This new twist on Sunday School (K-6) seeks to build community and nurture relationships. Kids meet with other kids their age to continue their Veggie Connection learning and connect it to their daily lives though crafts, games, group discussion and bible memorization.

h3. River East Children's Choir

Elementary school aged children rehearse weekly and sing during Sunday morning worship services once a month. The choir also rehearses for special occasion performances, such as Christmas musicals and spring concerts.

_"Helping people grow though grace to build, develop and model a "Christ-like" daily life of worship, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry from an Anabaptist perspective."_

h2. What-

Program A (Weeks 1, 3, and 5):

Rockin' Out at River East!

Ever wonder what goes on when rock bands practice? Join us as we spend the week hanging out with a band that's trying to make it big! Find out from the band that prayer is important no matter who you are, and that it's about more than just folding your hands and bowing your head.

Monday: Talk about how one way to pray is in private, where you can just allow yourself to spend some alone time with God.

Tuesday: Talk about how prayer can be spontaneous and don't need to be thought out but more "lead by the spirit".

Wednesday: Talk about how prayer can also be scripted (the lords prayer, psalms, etc.)

Thursday: Talk about how God wants us not to worry about anything but instead pray about everything.

Friday: Talk about how sometimes prayers are not answered right away but if you pray with persistence you can receive what you have asked for.

Program B (Weeks 2 and 4):

Captain Quincy's Crazy Cruise!

Hop on board for the best cruise ever! On the ship, the quirky Captain Quincy finds a couple of unsuspecting passengers who learn about God from stories in the bible that also happened on the open sea. Join us as we ride off into the sunset!

Monday: Take a look at the story of Noah, talk about the importance of promises and how signs can remind us of those promises.

Tuesday: Take a look at the story of Jonah, talk about how you can't run away from your problems and how God is merciful and always forgives us.

Wednesday: Take a look at the story of Jesus fishing with Peter and Andrew (Luke 5), talk about how Gods kingdom is a place for everyone no matter what.

Thursday: Take a look at the story of Jesus walking on the water, talk about the importance of faith and how God is our protector.

Friday: Take a look at the story of Paul sailing to Rome (end of Acts), talk about how God is sort of like our Captain- God knows where we are going and can see the future.

h2. Safety at Fun Mountain: Please Read!

Fun Mountain is the only field trip we take absolutely every week, weather permitting. We recommend that all parents/guardians read this before answer the question of whether or not their child will require a life jacket at Fun Mountain (as is asked on our registration form).

Allow us to give you an idea of what our Fun Mountain trips look like:

All five of our staff come to Fun Mountain. Three of our staff are placed at posts around the slides:
* one is at the top of the hill where campers must say hello before going down each slide
* one is at our canopy (with a first aid kit) where everyone leaves their belongings
* one is at the kiddy pool where many of our younger campers choose to spend their time

We also have at least one staff member or volunteer (often a Before and After worker) sliding with campers, and another staff member continually circulating around the entire water park. They are easily accessible to campers and are sure to check in with the posted staff periodically in case someone needs personal attention.

There is a Fun Mountain staff member at both the top and bottom of each individual slide, by the pool, and by the hot tub (all Fun Mountain slide/pool staff have lifeguard training). They also have a First Aid table at the bottom of the slides.

We require campers to be with at least one other camper at all times. They choose their “buddy” before we leave the church and this is the person they are to spend their day with. Often campers choose to join pairs together and spend much of their day in larger groups.

Fun Mountain is also the field trip where campers and staff are required to wear their Day Camp T-shirts. This makes campers easily noticeable to staff and vice versa.

In previous years we have required only the grade one students to wear lifejackets. This year (for the second time) the question of a lifejacket was placed on the registration form. Consequently, we received a much higher request for lifejackets than normal. However, one thing many parents/guardians are not aware of is the fact that, if a camper is wearing a lifejacket, they are NOT allowed (according to Fun Mountain regulations) to slide down some of the slides.

In our experience, most campers do not need a lifejacket. The pools at the bottom of the slides are reasonably shallow and Fun Mountain rules require kids to leave the slide’s pool as soon as they come down.

A number of parents/guardians were not sure if their child would need a lifejacket or not. Given the above information, please consider whether or not you think your child should have one. If your child will need a life jacket and does not have their own to bring along, Fun Mountain will supply them.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at: "rivereastdaycamp@gmail.com":mailto:rivereastdaycamp@gmail.com, or contact Fun Mountain directly (255-3910).
