With echoes of the 50th anniversary performance of Mendelssohn’s oratorio ringing in our ears, we continue listening to the witness of Elijah. He proclaims a world profoundly open to the gifts, energies and visions given by God, and he challenges the people of God, “How long will you go limping between two opinions?” Elijah repeatedly insists that there are choices to be made that hold options for “the world as otherwise.”
