Longing For Belonging
Stories of dislocation and restoration
On September 10, ten people met for a Holy Imagination Partners ( HIP ) session. Together they reflected on who God is and what God is doing in the lectionary Bible passages for this worship series. HIP went on to ask how the ancient story and convictions of God’s work in the world intersect with the world we are experiencing today.
Today, images of refugees fill the media. Displacement disrupts the global community. Each of us carry our own experience of dislocation. In the face of displacement of global proportions and of personal depth, what does it mean to proclaim, “The Lord restores?”
Foundational Judeo-Christian stories follow a similar arc
- Good creation, the fall, the restoration
- Call to be a people, slavery, promised land
- Jesus’ life, death, resurrection
- Orientation, disorientation, re-orientation
