“By my God I can leap over a wall,” (2 Samuel 22:30) are lyrics to David’s song of thanksgiving. Author Eugene Peterson picks up on this quote as title for his book on David which provides earthy spirituality for everyday Christians and a helpful resource for this worship series.
1 and 2 Samuel tell a story of radical transformation. It is the story of Ancient Israel transitioning from a marginal company of tribes to a centralized state through an interplay of three kinds of power: political power, David’s personal power and the power of God. Today as well, our story is still formed through the dynamics of these forces.
